Shahrukh Khan appointed Director of Jet Airways

Shahrukh KhanJet Airways India Ltd. has appointed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as an additional director on its board.

Filmmaker Yash Chopra and lyricist Javed Akhtar are already on the board of the Mumbai-based company.

The company also appointed Dr. Pierre J Jeanniot, former Director General of the International Air Transport Authority (IATA) as another additional director, the company informed the stock exchanges.

Dr. Jeanniot, presently Director General, Emeritus, is a leader of the aviation industry, renowned worldwide, it said.

The shares of the company closed at Rs 577.85, down 1.83 per cent on the BSE.

Meanwhile, a group of about two dozen activists of Bhartiya Janshakti (BJ) Party on Monday went on a rampage in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, demanding a ban on the screening of the SRK-starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna till the superstar apologised for endorsing a soft drink brand.

The Bhartiya Janshakti (BJ) Party, launched by former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti is angry with SRK after an independent agency this month found high pesticide content in 12 brands of soft drinks.

The superstar has reportedly said that these days pesticides are found even in mother’s milk – a comment that has left the BJ workers further enraged.

The BJ activists gathered near Regal Cinema in Indore Monday afternoon and tore the posters of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Police arrived soon and prevented their entry into the cinema hall.

“About two dozen of the activists have been taken into custody,” a police official said.

The party workers had on August 12 held similar protests and threatened not to allow SRK’s films to be screened in the city if he fails to apologise within 10 days.
