Amitabh Bachchan as a Chef
September 4, 2006
For the first time in his acting career, superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be seen playing a chef.
No other Bollywood actor who has reached his sixties has done such variety of roles as the Big B has. The sexagenarian cine icon is now paired with actress Tabu in Balkrishnan’s film titled Cheeni Kum .
The film is a mature love story between a young woman and an aged man who works as a veteran chef in an Indian restaurant in London.
Obviously, the film is set in London. Amitabh Bachchan is presently shooting there for a major schedule of the movie.
‘Cheeni Kum’ has Tabu playing a tourist in London. As the movie’s story goes, one day Tabu goes to an Indian restaurant for a meal along with a friend of hers. But she is not happy with the meal she is served. She complains to the waiter. The complaint doesn’t go well with the restaurant’s chef (Amitabh) who is a perfectionist. To placate the complaining customer, the chef fires the steward.
This incident marks the beginning of a relationship between the chef and the young woman.
Certain portions of ‘Cheeni Kum’ have previously been shot at the Film City in Mumbai. The movie is likely to be wrapped up in its current schedule in London.
‘Cheeni Kum’ has Bachchan in a new look. The superstar sports a ponytail in the film.
In the coming days, Amitabh Bachchan will also be flying from London to Toronto to attend the screening of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. The film’s director Karan Johar will also be there.
The film will be shown in the festival’s ‘Gala Presentation’ section on September 10 and 11.
