Charlie Sheen wants his wife to die

May 26, 2008

Denise RichardsDenise Richards has accused her ex-husband Charlie Sheen of hitting an alltime low after telling her to die of cancer. The actress claims Sheen told her to rot in hell when she sent him a text message to say their daughter Sam was ill. Richards revealed, “Last week, I sent Charlie a text message asking him if he’s going to Family Day at daughter Sam’s school and letting him know Sam was sick with a cold. His response was: ‘I hope you and your worthless retarded father get cancer and join your stupid mom. Rot in hell you wh*re.’ My mom died of cancer.

This is what I deal with on a weekly basis. He missed Dad’s day at the school and my father had to go in his place. And this is how he talks to me?” Sheen and Richards took their bitter exmarital battle to breakfast US TV screens, when they clashed over an email the actress allegedly sent begging for a sperm donation from her ex-husband.

Preeti Amin running away from TV soaps

May 26, 2008

Preeti Amin In the ever increasing crowd of faces on the small screen, there are some who stand out. Priti Amin is one such actress, who debuted in Jhoome Jiya Re. A find of the talent hunt contest conducted by the channel, Priti had been doing serials in the South before she got this break. “I was looking for something good and didn’t want to do the regular saas bahu serials. This serial gave me the perfect break. I have a deglamourised look and ample opportunity to show my dancing skills.”

Working on daily soaps can get quite tiring, admits Priti. “Doing TV serials is maddening. You have to work nearly 28 to 30 days in a month at a hectic pace. At times, I feel like running away from it all?” Coming back to the subject of saas bahu serials, though Priti may be averse to acting in them, yet the fact remains that these serials enjoy maximum popularity. Tell her this and she agrees, “I was an avid viewer of these serials till sometime back. But now changes are happening in this format too. The current strategy is to keep the basic structure of a family drama but give it a touch of youthfulness.”

Actors need to constantly reinvent themselves, she says. “If the role is not moving, then we have to move on to something better and more entertaining.” But stringent contracts with the production houses or channels can thwart such a move. Priti replies, “Undoubtedly so. Everybody here is doing business. Newcomers are hired by big production houses and they actually have no say at all. But it makes smart business sense, if after gaining popularity, the actor has a strategy to encash upon.”

And amidst all this smart business talk, does she find time to think about love or marriage? “I am happily single, and have no such plans at the moment, I am too bogged down by work and want more of it,” she laughs.

Aishwarya Rai in Hollywood version of a French film

May 26, 2008

Aishwarya Rai
The story doing the Bolly-Holly rounds is that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be doing a film with Meryl Streep sometime later this year. This is the English version of French filmmaker Colin Serreau’s 2002 film Chaos in which Ash is slated to play a sex worker. According to a source, Meryl and Ash are game. They both want to Americanise the theme because Chaos was very French, but in principle, Ash is on for this film.

Another international project that Ash has given the nod to is Roland Joffe’s Singularity with Brendan Fraser. Of this film, Ash said, “I’ve asked for the final draft of the script. Now the time factor has to be worked out. The time they want I’ve already gone and devoted to Mani Ratnam’s project. New dates have to be worked out. There are so many projects that I want to do but because of the dates, I can’t. I’ve never done more work than I can manage.”

In the meanwhile, Ash is getting ready to shoot for Shankar’s Robot and Mani Ratnam’s film with Abhishek. Said the actress, “There has been a delay in Robot because of the writer Sujata’s death. The dates situation does get tighter for me because I was supposed to shoot Robot now and Mani’s film a little later. We just have to work under a tighter schedule.” As for her role in the forthcoming Sarkar Raj, Ash laughed and said, “The film is more about Pa and Abhishek, than me. There isn’t that much of me in the film.” Won’t the audience be disappointed not to see Abhiash as a couple? She laughed again, “No, I don’t think so. Audiences go to see films with an open mind.” However, she admitted she had turned down Karan Johar’s Dostana with Abhishek for fear of audience rejection. “There, the sense of real-life connectivity would have definitely surfaced because the audience wouldn’t have liked the idea of me being wooed by another man,” Ash admitted.

Bollywood Actress wear short clothes this summer

May 26, 2008

Tanushree DuttaNever mind the French Riveira and fashion at Cannes, the action’s hotting up in aamchi Mumbai these days with the rising mercury making people want to wear lesser and lesser. And one garment that’s taken advantage of this season and made a comeback of sorts, is the shorts. No more are shorts home wear and beach wear only, svelte women attend dos in hot pants showing off their long, sexy legs. And even Bollywood’s glam gals, lanky fashion models and roving VJs can be spotted in shorts these days. When BT spotted actress Kangana Ranaut in one, she just cut us ‘short’ and said. “You don’t always want to move around wearing skirts, jeans and dresses. Sometimes it’s good to keep it short! It’s an advantage to be living in a metro otherwise in the small town that I come from, shorts look odd and you get weird looks,” said Kangana, who has at least 15-20 pairs ranging from loose cotton shorts, floral ones to denim hot pants piled up in her wardrobe. And when she is jetsetting to a foreign destination, hot pants is one thing she doesn’t forget to pack. “You can wear them with chappals for a casual look or with suede boots to get that kick-ass appearance. Team it with a belt to make it look funky or wear it with a shirt to look dashing,” said Kangana.

Another babe who swears by her collection of shorts is Amrita Arora. But according to her, shorts never go out of fashion. “Now that it’s summer, you see more people wearing shorts. It’s the coolest option.” The best part, said the actress, is that “you just don’t have denim shorts now, there are even chequered, linen and satin shorts that you can sport.” Amrita picks them up whenever she is travelling abroad. “It’s the linen ones available here that I find cool, yet hot!” You need not wear shorts just in the day time, it makes for a good evening wear too. “It can be dressy as well as casual,” said designer Rick Roy, who rates Malaika Arora Khan as the best looking woman in shorts. “She has the sexiest legs in the whole world,” he said. The designer is of the opinion that you shouldn’t wear them just because they are ‘in’. “You need to have the perfect legs to carry them or else they can look disastrous! If you have shorter legs, wear them with heels but if you have long, slender ones, then team them with flat boots or chappals,” he advised. Celina Jaitley, Masumeh, Pia Trivedi, Shweta Salve, Tanushree Dutta, Aditi Gowitrikar wear shorts at parties and have given the casual apparel a whole new trendy look. The ideal way to wear them, suggested Rick, is to sport a white shirt with chequered shorts, a coloured belt and pumps. “The balloon shorts do nobody any good. It does nothing to the figure. If you want to look outrageous than there are designer boots like the shredded one or the ones with strips of fabric on them. And if you want to look funky then wear it with a ganji,” he said. Coloured beads look super cool on them too!

Hrithik RoshanPutting rest to all the ‘happy rumours’ of delivering twins, Sussanne Roshan gave birth to a healthy baby boy yesterday morning at 11.30. Hrithik who accompanied her right to the door of the delivery room, was seen beaming with pride. Not even his recent success with Jodhaa Akbar could have given him such a high.
